Count Basie Theatre There are 21 theaters in Monmouth County that range from small neighborhood theaters to larger venues, like the acclaimed Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. The theatre has welcomed legends like James Brown and Tony Bennett, as well as headline performers Al Green, George Carlin, Boz Scaggs, Counting Crows, Olivia Newton-John, Brian Wilson, “Weird Al” Yankovic and Jon Stewart. This nonprofit organization also has schools of performing arts and music, providing rich learning opportunities for area children.

Historic Allaire Village The Historic Village at Allaire is a non-profit, living history museum in Farmingdale, New Jersey. Located over 40 acres, there’s a museum and multiple buildings from the 1800’s. Their historic interpreters and guides provide visitors with a unique look at life inside an industrial village in 1836, and they host dozens of events each year like woodcarving and craft brewing classes, flea markets, and art fairs.

Sandy Hook Lighthouse Near the tip of Sandy Hook is the oldest working lighthouse in the United States. Amazingly well-preserved, this unique octagonal tower dates back to the 18th century and has been in service since 1764. After you trek to the top of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse and take in the view, there’s still more to do. The peninsula also has a beautiful holly forest, surf fishing, hiking, beaches, trails, salt marshes, and other historical sites.

Downtown Shopping Each of the towns that make up Monmouth County has something unique and wonderful to offer. The Monmouth Tourism Board recommends taking a stroll in Asbury Park, Belmar, Freehold, Long Branch, Manasquan, Red Bank, and Spring Lake.
